Title: Classic Interlude
Post by: Mobius on September 26, 2019, 06:19:52 PM
I was always waiting for that version of Classic that would be like Interlude, a proper Interlude.
Needless to say the Classic - "Interlude" everyone was hopping for, never came to existance.
Instead we got ingame bot, auto potions, fast leveling, global gatekeeper, no item grade penalties, Kamaels
and more stuff that would be expected from a "bad" private server and not something that carries the name Classic.

The idea of creating my own version of Classic, a better approximation of what Classic is to Interlude, was born.
To my amazement I found that there are several not only public, but open source tools that could make that possible.
I decided to use Grand Crusade as a base, because Salvation and later clients added a lot of stuff that otherwise would need to be removed.

And voila, after a couple of days...

Clarification
Classic Interlude is not plain Interlude with better graphics.
It is Classic Zaken, as if it evolved to something more like Interlude and not Kamael.

Legal integrity of this project
-Most of the client changes I made were editing dat files using L2ClientDat and copy pasting map files from the Interlude client.
-Any client files shared by third-party contributors, while I cannot vouch for their origins, have been integrated cautiously.
-My main focus has been on server-side changes, ensuring that all modifications adhere to open-source tools and practices.

Where to download this client
Since we no longer redistribute client files, we kept a backup for historical and educational purposes.
You can download them for your personal use at http://classic-interlude.kesug.com

After much consideration, I have decided to discontinue the L2J_Mobius_Classic_Interlude project.

This decision stems from the realization that there is little point in maintaining a project like this
when several mods already exist that achieve the same goal - making Interlude look and feel like a modern client.

When I began this project, my aim was to create a version of Lineage 2 Classic that captured the essence of the Interlude era while incorporating some modern improvements.
However, over time, it became clear that new client mods have already accomplished this on the original Interlude client.

Rather than duplicating efforts, I believe it is better to step back and allow those existing projects to thrive.
Moving forward, we will focus our efforts on improving and refining our CT0 Interlude project, which remains a priority for us.

Thanks to everyone who supported this project.
